Could you give us some details on this project? As the power demand has increased in association with economic growth, Indonesia has been experiencing a period of a tight supply–demand balance. The overall power demand of Indonesia is projected to increase by an average annual rate of approxi-mately 9% until 2019. The Indonesian government has set itself a target of creating new power sources that can produce 35,000 MW in total by 2019. The project considered to play a central role in mission accomplishment is the Unit 5 & 6 Expansion Project at the Tanjung Jati B coal-red power plant (hereinafter referred to as “Tanjung Jati”), located in Central Java.Units 1–4 of the power plant currently account for approximately 11% of the Java-Bali Power Sector. The expansion project aims to construct two new 1,000 MW ultra-super critical coal-red power units, next to the existing Units 1–4. Japanese companies have been participating in the construction of Units 5 and 6, as is the case of Units 1–4. This project showcases invest-ments in Japan’s high quality infrastructure, for Japanese prod-ucts are adopted in the main equipment (Table 1).PT.
