5No. 13 AUTUMN 2018Fukuda and Partners CorporationThis applicant rm is an SME (small to medium size enterprise) in Japan that deals with real estate and construction-related services in Myanmar. With the aim of attracting Japanese corporations to Myanmar, Japan has been increasing its investment in construction projects like industrial parks and ofce buildings in the country, and with this, a noticeable gap between the construction technologies used in Myanmar and Japan has become increasingly apparent. As such, Fukuda and Partners proposed a training plan to enhance the technical level of local engineers, as the company believed ‘a comprehensive transfer of robust experience and knowledge of Japanese engineers to ones at local partners would lead to the enhancement of the technical level of construction in Myanmar.’It came up with a seven-day training program, starting with lectures on such subjects as work on electrical installation, water supply-sewage, air conditioning/ventilation, followed by eld visits to construction sites of service apartments as well as warehouses within an industrial park and classroom lectures to supplement knowledge of attendees. After implementation of the training, the company told us: ‘People in Myanmar have a great desire to learn; there are many technicians who wish to learn Japanese techniques.’ We hope that the technologies transferred by this training program will lead to both a ‘guarantee of quality’ at newly-developed facilities managed by the company and an enhanced level of quality of service by the company for its clients.Lecture in progressA token of thanks from the trainees given to the faculty, a Myanmar customField visit Overseas training by AOTS also takes the form of training with planning by AOTS and implementation by partnership between AOTS and its overseas counterparts. AOTS alumni societies as well as business and economic organizations in various countries can be counterparts of AOTS. This type of training can be implemented in various ways where AOTS plans according to the needs of local industries. Recruitment and local management can be handled by those counterparts. See page 12 of this issue of the Journal for an article on one of such training courses planned by AOTS and organized with local counterparts in Taiwan. An example of AOTS overseas training by adoption of proposals
