15No. 12 SPRING 2018The Monterrey Alumni Society of AOTS celebrated among friends and alumni its 30th anniversary on November 9, 2017.The Alumni organization hosted a party joined by Mr. Joji Tateishi, AOTS Senior Managing Director, Mr. Ernesto Furukawa, and Ms. Maribel Castillo, from AOTS Peru Alumni Association, and other distinguished guests from various related organizations in Mexico.“Over these 30 years, AOTS alumni have wished to copy key factors that they have seen in Japanese culture. The same values that have made Japan an economic success and a shaper of leaders in the industry. We wish to keep contributing to Mexican society in this way” said Ms. Martha Flores, AOTS Monterrey president.All past Alumni presidents were awarded for their contribu-tion to growing AOTS Monterrey. It was also announced that Ms. Martha Flores will also head the FELAAS -Federation of Latin American AOTS Alumni Societies.And to start the path to another 30 years, AOTS Monterrey organized the 1st 5S Kaizen Mexico Award, granted to three companies on November 10 in front of representatives from participating companies and the distinguished guests from the day before.Companies awarded in this rst year of the Award were Katcon, Frisa and Estampados Monterrey. These companies met a round of evaluations and reports on the use of best practices in 5S Kaizen.“The promotion of Japanese management methods like 5S and Kaizen will surely contribute to Mexico’s economy by improving productivity in many companies” Mr. Joji Tateishi said in his speech to the award’s forum. “I have learned that both Peru’s and Argentina’s Alumni Societies have helped Monterrey shape this award. I hope to see many more developments in Latin America thanks to the cooperation in our alumni network.”Here’s to the next 30 years!Realizing the importance of the unprecedented growth in Japanese Foreign Direct investment in India, and in order to promote further joint ventures, especially at the SME level in Kerala, an Indo Japan Chamber of Commerce Kerala, briey referred to as INJACK, was incorporated under the initiative of ASA Kerala. The Ambassador, in his inaugural address, praised the organizers for a job well done.Mr. Jacob Kovoor, President AOTS Kerala, who presided over the function, briefed the gathering about the history and growth of ASA Kerala. The celebration was an occasion for remembering past events, and gratefully acknowledging the valuable services and inspirational leadership provided by past presidents and other leaders over the last 50 years.
