Vergara (Philippines)Summary)Since I started to work at a hospital in Japan, I have faced the very tough language barrier and had trouble with communication over many times. I was shouted at by a patient as I failed to converse very well, but I was fortunate to be assigned to this particular patient. Gradually I was able to befriend this patient and on the day he left the hospital, he told me, crying, ‘Thank you and keep going.’ This experience has driven me to try harder in communication with patients. Today I feel I am fortunate to work in Japan. Here is an excerpt of the speech by the rst prize winner.Visit the AOTS website to see the actual scenes of speeches on that day.▼http://www.aots.jp/jp/project/nihongo/sp2017/
