HIDA JOURNAL16On October 11th and 12th, 2016, Czech Alumni Society hosted a two day long WNF Program* in the city of Ostrava, the third largest city in Czech Republic.The Program’s main topic was what measures could be taken by a corporation to raise employees’ motivation and skill level, thus achieving a better productivity. The Program offered lectures by local entrepreneurs and human resource development consultants, as well as tours of excellent corporations. Over the two day period, the Program was attended by 150 persons including Personnel ofcers of auto-part companies; and received sponsorship and support from 21 companies and organizations, indicating the high level of interest the Czech had on the topic.An event by the European Federation of HIDA-AOTS Alumni Societies (EFAAS) was also held, having been scheduled at the same time as the WNF Program, attended by the representatives from respective alumni societies in Bulgaria, Czech, Hungary, Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia and Turkey.Many countries, where alumni societies belonging to the EFAAS were formed, have joined the EU; which resulted in falling number of trainees coming from the region. Despite the trend, it has been recon-rmed that cooperation would continue through Carbon Reduction Technology Promotion Programs, whose target includes the said region, and HIDA’s own programs. There was also a report about a 5S promotion activity targeting schools and local government, carried out by some of the alumni societies with support from a Japanese NPO. In order to expand this activity to surrounding alumni societies in future, a promise of cooperation was made; and it was agreed to strengthen future alumni society activities through similar activities.*The WNF Program is a “South-South Cooperative Activity” by network of HIDA-AOTS Alumni Societies.
