HIDA JOURNAL2 Special Issue The 9th World Convention of HIDA/AOTS Alumni Societies“Communicate, Connect, and Create”Foresights of HIDA’s global network created through HRD ~ Co-creating new values for a new generation ~This past October 29 and 30 the 9th World Convention of HIDA/AOTS Alumni Societies (hereafter referred to as the convention) was held, with Iino Hall in Kasumigaseki, Tokyo serving as its main venue. The alumni societies are organizations that were formed by returned trainees from the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS), which was one of the predecessors to HIDA, in regions all around the world with their guiding principle being to contribute to society. As a general rule, this convention is held once every four years in order to deepen ties between the alumni societies, as well as to promote face-to-face reciprocal exchanges between HIDA and the alumni societies, so that HIDA and the alumni societies can work together to plan and carry out activities that contribute to industrial human resource development in developing countries. This convention was attended by 193 members from 60 alumni societies in 38 countries around the world, as well as 42 people who accompanied them, such as their family members. Through the Success Story Contest and the Theme Discussions, the alumni society members from each country shared their experiences, and held debates and offered suggestions on the cooperation programs by HIDA and the alumni societies.
