If you always speak in polite Japanese then this serves to create distance between you and the other person. It is also important to understand dialects in order to form good relations with clients and coworkers. Third placeMs. Jennifer Blag Acosta“Understanding the Communication Differences between Japanese and Filipino People”The differences between Japan and the Philippines are enormous not just in terms of their languages, but also in nonverbal communication such as expression, tone of voice and gestures. Japanese people are all reserved, and so they may give you the impression that they hide their emotions or else are angry at you. On the other side, I feel that it is wonderful that they practice such detailed reporting, communication and consultation at Japanese workplaces.
