HIDA Journal 2015 SPRING No.6
2/26

Greetings for the New Year.Last year was a turning point in that it was the second year since the Association made a fresh start as a general incorporated foundation in April 2013, and the 55th year since its establishment. I would once again like to offer my cordial gratitude to everyone who has given us their unwavering support, including domestic and foreign government agencies such as the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), as well as those in the industrial world, the academic world, and in regional communities. In October we held the 9th World Convention of HIDA/AOTS Alumni Societies to commemorate our 55th anniversary. In this issue we have a special report on the details of the convention. For this convention 235 training participants who have returned to their home countries and other people involved gathered in Tokyo, with this being a record number. Through the convention we once again affirmed the personal networks linking Japan with the rest of the world that represent the outcome of the association’s programs. What is more, last year was also a year in which there were wide-ranging calls to create societies in which all women can shine, and so the Association offered a management training program aimed at female business leaders as an initial foray into this.Today, as globalization continues to advance, strengthening personal networks with foreign countries and fostering a diverse array of human resources is important for the growth of both countries and companies. In light of such developments, the Association intends to put its efforts into new services through the HIDA Research Institute and the New Global Cooperation program, in addition to conventional human resource development programs, under its mission of “Co-Existence and Growing Together” by fully making use of the abundant personal networks it has built up thus far both within Japan and overseas. We would like to ask for your continued support and encouragement in this year as well.
