No.3 AUTUMN 2013 9Service businesses that have achieved a unique development in Japan are now attracting attention as a new source of Japan’s growth. Unlike objects that are visible and tangible, intangible services are strongly aff ected by human factors. That is why services are said to be expressions of human beings.HIDA carries out a project to support the development of local personnel for small service businesses in Japan. This project is aimed at supporting the overseas development of small service businesses in Japan through the development of local personnel who understand the essence of Japanese services, including the spirit of hospitality. Subsidies will be available from the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency to cover part of the expenses required to host local personnel in Japan and to send experts overseas from Japan.
