15No. 10 SPRING 2017One of the projects HIDA jointly carries out with the alumni soci-eties is the Lecturing Tour. For this program, HIDA sends speakers from Japan to a seminar jointly hosted by several alumni societies, funded jointly by HIDA and the alumni societies. This time, at the Lecturing Tours in Mexico and Peru, we invited Prof. Shin Omori of College of Economics, Nihon University as the speaker. Prof. Omori studies corporate 5S and cleaning activities from the perspective of Management Studies. His lecture not only looked at the effect of 5S in productivity improvement, but also paid attention to the effect of human resource development those activities had on people and their organization. Firstly the tour went to Mexico’s capital Mexico City on November 4, delivered to about 70 attendants including local entrepreneurs, managers, consultants and students. Due to the recent acceleration of Japanese corporate expansion into Mexico, the audience was very keen, actively asking questions and exchanging views. The tour then went to the city of Lima in Peru, and delivered at three venues. The last of those was delivered as the Keynote Speech as the Peru National 5S Award Presentation Ceremony held on November 8 (See the next section for information on this event). About six-hundred audiences, including the award winners, those from the corporations considering taking part in future 5S award and students, were captivated by Prof. Omori’s lecture. And the seminar saw a grand success. In any countries, we saw a high level of interests in Japan and 5S. Prof. Omori’s lecture created an opportunity to feel the nucleus of Japanese management culture and to become further motivated in 5S.Following are reports of the alumni society events held in Peru and Argentine in November 2016●Commemorative Ceremony Marking the 50-Year Anniversary of Kenshu Kiokay del PeruA Commemorative Ceremony was held to mark the 50-Year Anniversary of Kenshu Kiokay del Peru, in Lima, Peru, on November 7.
