7No. 9 AUTUMN 2016What sort of techniques were and will be learned during the expert dispatch in FY2015 and FY2016?At the expert dispatch in FY2015, we provided instruction on the basics of the modeling creation and the motion creation and obtained a certain result. We have dispatched the same expert this year as in FY2015 to provide instruction on advanced techniques for the improvement of the quality of CG animations, and make staff in Myanmar experience the creation of animations we ordered.A model is formed by a polyhedron called “polygon.” During the expert dispatch last year, staff at MYANMAR51 could, although it took time, perform modeling of 1,000 to 5,000 polygons. During the dispatch this year, we plan to provide instruction on techniques to create modeling of 20,000 to 100,000 polygons. At this level, smoother curbs and precise concavity and convexity can be described. Regarding the motion creation, currently they have skills for creating scenes of people walking. Their goal at the next expert dispatch is to be able to create complex animations where multiple movements are carried out at the same time. For example, a scene where a monster is roaring while wagging its tail and shifting its weight, etc.Furthermore, we have dispatched another expert this scal year for instruction on late processing. Separately form the modeling cre-ation and the motion creation, the late processing is a general term for the effect creation that will add ames and lights to a video and the composite operation that will put a character on the background and adjust colors. The expert provides instruction on techniques for the effect creation and the composite operation in order to improve the quality of CG animation. Through the effect creation, effects such as beams of sunlight, etc. can be added into a 3D modeled background to give reality. On the other hand, adjustment of various elements and addition of effects by overlaying layers, which compose a CG image, are called the composite operation. By learning these techniques, more realistic animations can be created. We understand that realistic animations we often see are created by a combination of various techniques. What was difcult for experts in providing instruction to staff in Myanmar? What we felt the difference about the culture between Japan and Myanmar was that the parent-child relationship in Myanmar was much closer than in Japan, and parents of staff in Myanmar showed strong interest in jobs and futures of their children. In order for staff in Myanmar to continuously work at the company, the expert needed to make efforts to give them and their families a better understanding of the meaning and potential of their jobs through repeated appeals. We felt it is important to gain the trust in the company from not only staff members but also their families. The expert also said that at rst he had difculty in teaching the importance of meeting a deadline and working in cooperation among members of the group, although these are the common sense for Japanese people. At the same time, with their high abilities to absorb knowledge and skills, staff members in Myanmar grew rapidly. The more they learned, the more they improved their individual techni-cal skills. They gradually produced results through mutual support among team members. In addition, thanks to the atmosphere where the expert and local staff members can have honest discussions, their work could be smoothly carried out.As a factor to achieve improved results of instruction, we con-sider that we could provide instruction for a long period, six months, by using HIDA’s expert dispatch program. We took time to deepen mutual understanding between our expert and staff in Myanmar and were able to provide thorough instruction. This led to a signicant improvement of technical skills of staff in Myanmar. You carefully developed a trust relationship by taking into consideration the characteristics of ways of thinking of people in Myanmar. Finally, please tell us about your future ambitions. In addition to the improvement of individual technical skills, we would like to develop a plan so that they can grow as a team. With the aim of meeting a deadline and improving quality, we will shift our priority to the creation of appropriate workow. We will also continue to sell pilot animations, make proposals on new original animations, and work on the creation. Our big dream is that our original animations are broadcast on TV in Myanmar. We are feeling a certain response as we have been receiving favorable reactions from various quarters on our pilot animations.Thank you very much for this invaluable discussion. We are looking forward to your company’s future success so as that MYANMAR51 will lead a boom in the Japanese animation culture in Myanmar.Staff of MYANMAR51 receiving instruction from the expert (right)Staff members at MYANMAR51
