Training in Japan 1) Technical trainingTechnical training programs are aimed at enabling trainees to acquire manufacturing and other specialized skills. A technical training program consists of an introductory training (General Orientation Course), where trainees learn about the Japanese language, culture and society at HIDA’s training center, and a Practical training (Specialized Technical Training), where participants acquire specialized skills on the shop fl oor of private companies. The General Orientation Course off ers three diff erent courses (13-week, 6-week and 9-day courses) depending on the Japanese language profi ciency required for Specialized Technical Training (Figure 1).from developing countries; overseas training programs; and experts dispatch programs.In this issue, we present examples of small and medium-sized companies that are using training programs in Japan and experts dispatch programs for their overseas development.
