No.3 AUTUMN 2013 15New Global Cooperation ProjectsIn an eff ort to meet industries’ new, diversifi ed needs for human resource development, HIDA launched independent projects (New Global Cooperation (NGC) projects) that are not supported by public funds in FY2011 by making the most of the networks in Japan and overseas that we have developed over the years. These projects are broadly classifi ed into the following two categories:Management training seminars held in Japan for industrial personnel from abroadSeminars are broadly grouped into two types: seminars for publicly recruited participants (public seminars) and seminars provided on request (on-request seminars). Public seminars are designed and provided by HIDA to a wide range of participants publicly recruited by HIDA, which include not only participants from developing countries, but also those from former ODA recipient countries as well as Japanese businesspeople. On-request seminars are designed and provided in response to requests from HIDA-AOTS alumni societies and Japanese companies. There are five areas to be covered by management training seminars: (1) programs for business empowerment; (2) energy-saving technologies; (3) creating green energy technologies; (4) programs for supporting the cultivation of Japanese individuals with a global perspective; and (5) seminars by industry that meet other needs. These are also high priority areas in which HIDA needs to develop new programs. In FY2013, we made it a goal to provide around 15 courses. So far, we have conducted seminars for countries in the Middle East and Latin America, including enhanced production management seminars, five-S enhancement seminars, leadership training seminars, and a business opportunity creation program held at a mold exhibition. In the future, we plan to conduct seminars on the banking industry and seminars for major apparel manufacturers in Sri Lanka. We design and conduct seminars that are tailored to the needs of individual companies. It is also possible to add post-seminar sightseeing tours or visits to companies to a seminar schedule.Japanese language seminars for non-Japanese employees that are increasing in numberThe following three major types of seminars are available:(1) Short-term intensive Japanese language courseThis course is designed for non-Japanese employees working in Japan, including trainees who come to Japan for specialized technical training on HIDA’s support programs. In this course, participants stay at a training center to acquire basic skills and learn up-to-date expressions in order to improve their Japanese language skills. This course is provided during Golden Week holidays, Bon Festival holidays and New Year holidays, when participants’ companies are closed. It is a three-day (or two three-day sessions) short-term intensive training course.(2) On-demand Japanese language training courseThis is a tailor-made (on-demand) Japanese language course with a curriculum designed in accordance with the request of companies. This course is conducted at places specified by companies or at HIDA’s training center.(3) Japanese language course for global personnelThis is an open Japanese language seminar started in this fall as a new program. We provide practical Japanese language training focused on Can-Do skills, while at the same time enabling participants to acquire knowledge of Japanese society. We have presented HIDA’s New Global Cooperation (NGC) projects. We would be delighted if these seminars could serve as tools for the development of personnel that meet new needs.(Information: New Global Cooperation Department: newglobal_hidajapan_or_jp)Czech Republic, Brazil, Kuwait and BangladeshSeminar titleParticipant countryEnhanced production management seminarExamples of management training seminars:Public seminarsAsiaMiddle EastLatin AmericaSri LankaOmanKuwaitBrazilPeruManagement seminar on advancing KaizenProgram of leadership developmentSeminar on enhanced Kaizen and TPSBusiness conference program: Intermold (molding technology)Management seminar on 5S implementation activitiesSeminar titleParticipant countryAreaOn-request seminarsGroup presentation at a leadership training seminar for trainees from OmanEnhanced production management seminar
